Making applications for Android may seem like a drag, but not anymore

Statistics show that programmers prefer making iOS apps over Android. Are you one of them? Well it's time to change that.

Do you develop applications for Android? We have come across some insights on Android application development and we would like to share them with you. According to statistics, there are more independent programmers than employees. This might be due to a fact that the monetization of Android apps is much lower when comparing to iOS. Companies have to pay their programmers and if they focus solely on Android the return might seem more deceiving than payign for iOS programmer.

However Android is slowly but surely taking the lead in market share which still gives a lot of programmers enough reason to make apps.

- 58% of programmers working independently

- 40% of programmers are employed in companies, but 45% of them are single, one-man-show, programmers.

As we all know developing apps for Android is not as enjoyable as making apps for iOS but the fact that Android is run on vast variety of phones makes it seem like a very lucrative market to enter, not to mention that popular tablet Kindle Fire runs Android. So why are there only 7% of apps available for purchase? As much as I like Android, and I do use one myself, I have to admit that the system is very unstable. I have had numerous times when I had to restart my phone etc. so the answer to that question is, programmers do not want to turn the users against them by making them pay money for something that cannot be stable. Offering an app for free, or charging for additional features seems definitely like a better strategy when creating Android apps.

Now, the question is whether we are going to put up with Android development as it is or are we going to look for other technologies. The good news is that Moscrif allows programming apps for Android, which is based in object-oriented JavaScript to simplify the entire development process. And not only that, but this app can be also ported to other platforms like iOS, Symbian, bada or Windows Mobile.
